A couple of FAQ’s

WHAT CLASS DO I BOOK?

The classes shown on the booking calendar are the sessions that currently have spaces available.

As a general guide, our earlier classes tend to have younger students, while our later classes are generally more suited to older students. Students under 12 will usually fit well into our 4pm, 5pm or 6pm sessions, while students aged 12+ will generally suit our 7pm classes.

Every student is different, though, and we consider age, experience and confidence when helping to find the right fit.

The easiest thing to do is simply book a free trial at a time that suits you. We can then meet your child, see how they get on and chat with you about the best option. If we feel another class would be a better fit, we'll let you know and help you find the right session.

Our aim is always to make sure your child is in a class where they feel comfortable, confident and able to enjoy making music.

CAN A PARENT STAY DURING THE FREE TRIAL?

We’re very happy for parents to come along before the class begins, have a look around, meet us and make sure your child is comfortable with the environment.

Once the class starts, however, we do ask that parents leave their child with us for the session. There are a few important reasons for this.

Firstly, our classes are shared with other students, and we offer free trials throughout the year. Having unfamiliar adults regularly sitting in on classes can be distracting and can make some students feel self-conscious or less inclined to get involved. Keeping the classroom for students and tutors creates a relaxed, consistent environment where everyone can feel comfortable.

Your child’s safety is also extremely important to us. We are all PVG checked, and when classes are in progress the classroom doors are closed, and locked meaning students are learning in a secure environment without other adults coming and going.

Most importantly, we’ve found through years of experience that children generally settle much more quickly when they are allowed to join the class independently. When a parent stays, some children naturally look to them for reassurance and can end up hiding behind them rather than getting involved. A quick, positive goodbye at the start can actually reduce anxiety and help your child engage with the other students, the tutor and the class activities.

We know that leaving your child somewhere new for the first time can feel like a big step, but you can be confident that we’re used to helping new students settle in, and our aim is for them to finish their first session feeling happy, confident and excited to come back!
